Kim Y. Ng is an associate attorney in the business litigation group of Skiermont Derby. Kim is experienced in representing and litigating on behalf of large internet and technology clients in a wide range of business and commercial litigation matters, including those involving civil and criminal user data requests, defamation, content moderation, platform liability, state and federal autorenewal laws, false advertising, contract disputes, and Section 1782 applications.
Before joining Skiermont Derby, Kim was a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Jeremy D. Peterson in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. Prior to her clerkship, she practiced at an international law firm where she focused on data privacy and information security. She assisted clients in navigating everything from incident response and data breach litigation to compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). She holds a certified information privacy professional designation (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is an active member of the Sacramento KnowledgeNet chapter.
Kim earned her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis School of Law. As a proud alumna, she now teaches legal analysis at her alma mater and serves as an advisor for recent graduates preparing for the bar exam. Before law school, Kim was an Honors Paralegal for the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division where she served on the trial teams for criminal prosecutions relating to price fixing in the liquid crystal display industry and bid rigging at Northern California foreclosure auctions.
