Jaime K. Olin’s legal career has spanned two diverse fields – intellectual property litigation and animal law. She currently focuses her practice on patent litigation, along with handling other intellectual property disputes and advising clients on litigation and licensing strategy. She has tried six patent cases to verdict in jury and bench trials, in technology areas ranging from computer software to pharmaceuticals to semiconductors to audio and video coding. Most recently, Jaime acted as case manager and infringement lead on a 2024 trial that resulted in a $242 million verdict on behalf of client IPA Technologies. Jaime also has commercial litigation experience in state and federal courts, including trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, unfair competition, consumer fraud, and employment discrimination claims.
As it relates to animal law, Jaime provided “second chair” trial assistance to prosecutors handling criminal animal cruelty cases across the country, along with helping to develop the animal protection litigation section of a large national non-profit organization. She now puts these skills to use as Board Vice President and Legislative Chair of the Texas Humane Legislation Network.
Prior to joining Skiermont Derby LLP, Jaime worked as Legal Advocacy Counsel with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA); Senior Counsel with Nelson Bumgardner Casto, PC; Associate with Gruber Hurst Johansen & Hail; and Associate with Fish & Richardson, PC.
