Jaime K. Olin

Jaime K. Olin’s legal career has spanned two diverse fields – intellectual property litigation and animal law. As it relates to intellectual property law, she currently focuses her practice on commerical and patent litigation, along with other intellectual property disputes. She has tried four patent cases to verdict in jury trials, in technology areas ranging from semiconductors to audio and video coding. Jaime also has state court experience, including breach of contract, unfair competition, consumer fraud, and employment discrimination claims.
As it relates to animal law, Jaime provided “second chair” trial assistance to prosecutors handling criminal animal cruelty cases across the country, along with helping to develop the animal protection litigation section of a large national non-profit organization.
Prior to joining Skiermont Derby LLP, Jaime worked as Legal Advocacy Counsel with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA); Senior Counsel with Nelson Bumgardner Casto, PC; Associate with Gruber Hurst Johansen & Hail; and Associate with Fish & Richardson, PC.

Represented plaintiff consumers in lawsuit against pet store and pet leasing companies.
Organic Trade Association v. USDA (D.D.C. 2017- )
Provided amicus brief in support of lawsuit challenging USDA’s failure to implement organic food regulations
Animal Care Trust v. United Pet Supply (U.S. Supreme Court, 2015)
Provided amicus brief in support of petition for certiorari to SCOTUS seeking to uphold qualified immunity determination for animal welfare organizations working with local governments.

Represented patent owner in infringement litigation involving semiconductors through jury trial.
Uniloc USA, Inc. v. Sony Corp., et al. (E.D. Tex.)
Represented patent owner in litigation involving anti-piracy software technology.
